Bulletin 573 2nd February 2018
Indoor Athletics: Our indoor athletics team of year 4 and 5 pupils came a very creditable third last week in a competition where most schools entered their year 6 children. Well done to everyone who took part.
All clubs are now up and running but there are spaces in many of them, so please speak to the office if you wish for your child to attend any of the clubs.
The school disco was a well-attended event last Saturday and the hall pulsated to the rhythm of the music! Huge thanks, as always, to the Friends of the school and those staff who attended and made the event such a success.
Parent Governor Election
The deadline for nominations for parent governors is 9th February 2018. If you are intending to stand as a prospective governor, please ensure your forms are with the office by then.
Talent Show – Thursday 8th February
Every class is busy with their auditions and rehearsals for the school talent show. The parent’s show will be during the afternoon of Friday 9th February which will also be open to members of our local community in the same way that all of our school productions are. If you have a child taking part in the talent show, you will receive a letter very soon.
Our next consultation evenings are on the 26th and 27th February – we will open bookings for these meetings soon. At the meeting, parents will receive their child’s mid-year check and have the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress, attainment and the steps to be taken. Further information regarding appointments will be sent home on Monday 5th February.
Book Fair – Advance Notice
The book fair will be arriving on Wednesday 21 February 2018 and will be open after school every day until Tuesday 27th February 2018.
On Thursday 8th February, we shall be joining hundreds of schools, businesses, choirs and community groups to attempt to all sign and sing at the same time to the newly released song for this year. We are suggesting a donation of £1 to the charity which can be sent into school on the day itself or beforehand.

Closure in the event of extreme weather
It is always our intention to keep the school open as long as it is safe to do so and we have sufficient staff. If it is necessary to close the school before the start of the school day, we will inform Suffolk County Council and the school will be shown as closed on: schoolclosures.suffolk.gov.uk. There will also be a post on our Facebook page to that effect. If we have to close during the school day, we will contact parents using text messages and through our Facebook page.
These are now available in the school main front entrance. Please feel free to complete when required and return using the secure post box by the school office window.
The next newsletter will be on Friday 9th of February, 2018
