Bulletin 568 9th November 2017
Mr Pearson-Shaul was admitted to hospital with appendicitis on Sunday. The appendix was removed on Monday and he is now recovering at home. He hopes to be back at school soon. Until his return, Miss Ives is acting head teacher.
Good luck to both teams today who are representing our school at the tournament being held at Alde Valley.
Two minute silence
Tomorrow we will hold a special assembly for all children to observe the two minute silence. Please encourage your child to wear their poppy that day.
Flu immunisations – Wednesday 22nd November 2017
Information should have been received by parents of children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3. Please return the forms to the school office as soon as possible.
The book fair will arrive on Wednesday 22nd November for a week. This is an ideal opportunity to buy books for Christmas presents and we hope to have one session during the school day so that you can buy in secret and help out Father Christmas! Opening times will be advertised on posters and on our Facebook page but fliers should have arrived home already.
This will be on Thursday 14th December and letters should have arrived home yesterday. Please make sure that replies and payment are received in the school office by Friday 24th November (you do not need to pay if your child is in Reception/KS1 or if your child receives Free School Meals).
As parents of children in our reception classes will know, we have more Mouse Club sessions on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th, Thursday 30th November and Friday 1st December. Parents have been individually invited but please make sure you have replied to say you are coming!
Reception Open Morning
We held another Reception Open morning this week. The next will be on Wednesday 29th November. If you know of friends with pre-school children who will be starting reception in September 2018, do please let them know so that they can book a place.
This will be on Tuesday 14th November and each class will be doing an activity connected with increasing our awareness of environmental issues and keeping our environment tidy. Children are invited to wear something green that day and there will not be a charge for this.
Children In Need Day
We will be supporting Children In Need on Friday 17th November. Children are welcome to “go spotty” and wear spotty clothes – please see the school Facebook page for more details (https://www.facebook.com/saxmundhamprimaryschool/). Please donate any round pounds/coins to cover a giant Pudsey Bear and fill a paddling pool on the playground and please donate spotty cakes and cookies for our sale. All items will be sold for 50p during break time. Any cakes left after break will be on sale at the end of the day in the playground. Thank you for your support.
Road Safety Competition
The Road Safety team have organised a colouring competition on the theme ‘Be Safe Be Seen!’ Entries should be returned by 17th November for a chance to win. Good luck!
Unfortunately we will not be able to offer the printed Christmas cards this year. We apologise and hope to be able to offer them next year.
Dress Down Day for Christmas Bazaar
This annual event will be held on Wednesday 29th November and children are invited to wear non-school uniform in exchange for new/unused items for the hampers and tombolas at the Christmas Bazaar. Thank you.
Christmas Bazaar - 2nd December, 2-4pm
This is on Saturday 2nd December and Father Christmas is expected to make an appearance in his grotto. Please come and support this event organised by The Friends which includes a grand raffle, hampers, tombolas, games and much more. If you would like to help out/run a stall please speak to Ali Fox or Lou Boswell. Tickets for the Grand Draw will be on sale soon in the playground.
This year, there will be a lantern procession after the Bazaar which starts at the school at 4.30pm and ends in Saxmundham town centre in time for the Christmas lights being switched on and carols by the tree at the Market Hall.
Christmas Nativity KS1 and Reception
Letters will be sent home shortly giving details of the performances and times. This year there will also be two Community performances – KS1 classes on 4th December at 10am and Reception classes on 13th December at 9.30am, to which we invite the more senior members of the local community to come along. If you know of anyone who would like to attend, please ask them to contact the school office.
