Bulletin 571 4th January 2018
It is good to have everyone back in school after the Christmas break. Tree letters will be coming home tomorrow and these will detail the curriculum areas your child will be following this term. As always, work in school will be supplemented by homework and we really need your help with this to support your child! Please look in your child’s bag regularly to ensure you receive information about homework and letters. Finally, it is the term for foul weather, so please ensure your child comes to school suitably dressed.
Basketball: Thurs 7th Dec – In what turned out to be a tournament for mixed teams before Christmas, our team was unbeaten and we now look forward to competing in the County championships! The date for this has not yet been set but will be published as soon as we know it.
The school clubs list will be online very soon. A text message link will be sent to the primary contact for each family. Please make sure you reply quickly to secure your child’s places on the activities of their choice - please look out for it!
Brass Ensemble Sessions
A reminder to parents of children in year 5 about the brass ensemble sessions being held here on Thursdays from 3.45pm. This is an opportunity for your child to receive an additional hour of brass tuition every week until the end of the school year – don’t miss out!
These are now available in the school main front entrance. Please feel free to complete when required and return using the secure post box by the school office window.
Parent Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking to provide a wide range of after-school clubs for Saxmundham Primary. Are you a qualified coach looking to inspire children? Are you involved with a local club who might like to forge links with our school? If you have a passion for football, quick sticks hockey or gymnastics, or another sport, we would love to hear from you. We may also be able to offer the possibility of developing your skills to gain the necessary qualifications to deliver your sport for our children. Please contact Keith Cartwright-Jones if you would like to discuss this further.
Admissions to Primary School
A brief reminder if you have children who were born between 1/09/2013 and 31/08/2014, you must apply for their place at primary school in September 2018 by the 15th January 2018. This applies even if you have children already at school. We have had several families visit us on our open mornings, but are very happy to arrange visits for those that missed out.
We would like to recruit relief midday supervisors to our team. If you are interested, please ask at the school office for an information pack.
Closure in the event of extreme weather
It is always our intention to keep the school open as long as it is safe to do so and we have sufficient staff. If it is necessary to close the school before the start of the school day, we will inform Suffolk County Council and the school will be shown as closed on: schoolclosures.suffolk.gov.uk. There will also be a post on our Facebook page to that effect. If we have to close during the school day, we will contact parents using text messages and through our Facebook page.
The next bulletin will be on Thursday 18th January, 2018.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK THE SCHOOL WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE REGULARLY AS ALL LETTERS, BULLETINS AND USEFUL INFORMATION ARE AVAILABLE TO VIEW
